An Ebola outbreak has been declared in the Democratic Republic of the Congo , with 15 confirmed deaths - including four health workers - and dozens more are feared to be infected.
As of September 4, health officials have confirmed 28 suspected cases. The outbreak was first identified in the Bulape and Mweka health zones, where victims showed classic symptoms such as fever, vomiting, diarrhoea and haemorrhaging. On September 3, tests conducted at the National Institute of Biomedical Research in Kinshasa confirmed Ebola Zaire as the cause.
