DENVER (KDVR) -- Denver Broncos star outside linebacker Nik Bonitto has reportedly agreed to a four-year contract extension worth up to $120 million with $70 million guaranteed.
The deal was first reported by NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport on Thursday and confirmed by Bonitto's agency, Athletes First. The news comes days before the Broncos are set to open their season at home against the Tennessee Titans on Sunday.
Bonitto will earn a base salary of $106 million and $26.5 million per season. The deal places the second-year full-time starter 10th among edge rushers in average annual salary, according to the NFL.
The deal also makes Bonitto the highest-paid defensive player in Broncos history, acccording to Athletes First.
