CHINLE, Ariz. —

Early findings show a medical aircraft crashed as it was approaching Chinle Airport from Albuquerque, killing all four crew members aboard.

A preliminary report by the National Transportation Safety Board found the aircraft was less than a quarter mile from runway 36. The plane was being operated by a pilot and co-pilot along with two medical crew members.

A voice recorder from the cockpit was recovered from the airplane. It has been shipped to the NTSB Vehicle Recorders Laboratory to be downloaded. The crash happened on Aug. 5.
