PHOENIX (AZFamily) — A red-light runner caused a crash in central Phoenix that sent a Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office sergeant to the hospital on Wednesday night, police said.

According to investigators, a white van driver blew through a red light while going east on Indian School Road and hit the sergeant who was on a motorcycle heading north on 3rd Avenue.

The sergeant was on duty at the time and was taken to the hospital with serious injuries but is in stable condition, firefighters said.
