A 48-year-old Flathead County man charged with running over a man with his vehicle in an Evergreen cornfield last month pleaded not guilty on Thursday to a felony count of deliberate homicide.

Jeffrey Scott Serio entered the plea during a Sept. 4 hearing in Flathead County District Court before Judge Heidi Ulbricht.

Serio remains in custody at the Flathead County Detention Center where he has been jailed on a $500,000 bond since his Aug. 19 arrest. He is scheduled to stand trial on March 9, 2026, and faces a maximum sentence of 100 years in the Montana State Prison.
