PEORIA ( 25News Now ) - Those who have ever wondered how power companies jump into action after something goes wrong may be relieved to hear that Ameren Illinois is ready.

The power company hosted an open house at 10:30 a.m. Thursday to showcase the equipment and protocols in place for addressing issues such as natural gas leaks and power outages. Interactive displays also provided the opportunity for hands-on learning, with Ameren Illinois employees standing by to explain how everything works.

Director of Gas Operations Colby Sawin said that a lot of planning goes into responding to emergencies and hopes the open house can help clear up any misconceptions customers may have.
