The green bins are landing in Brockville residents’ driveways, and city council next week will decide on the next step toward the imminent start of the city’s organics recycling program.

Council’s planning and development committee is recommending the full council approve a contract with Tomlinson Environmental Services Ltd. for processing source-separated organic materials. The city would pay $130 per tonne, for a total annual estimated cost of $162,053, excluding tranportation costs.

Peter Raabe, Brockville’s director of engineering and infrastructure services, reiterated that the city will start collecting organic waste in green bins for recycling in early October.
