Eight Amish people were hurled through the air when a pickup truck slammed into the back of their horse-drawn buggy in upstate New York, police said.
A 6-year-old boy was hospitalized and a horse was killed when 73-year-old Laurie Callan struck the loaded wagon from behind with her 2012 Dodge while traveling on Route 5 in Danube shortly after 5:30 p.m. Monday, according to New York State Police.
The crash sent the two-horse buggy careening off the Herkimer County road, ejecting all eight passengers, while Callan’s truck flipped and landed in the westbound lane. 3
