A fire advisory is in effect in Lacombe County due to warm temperatures, windy conditions, and the expected lack of precipitation.

The fire advisory went into effect on Sept. 4.

During the advisory, Lacombe County will still issue fire permits for minor burns (less than 500 square feet); however, permits for large-scale burn activities will not be approved.

During a fire advisory, people can:

- Get a permit for minor burns

- Have a recreation fire, which includes using fire pits in campgrounds, private lands, and backyards

- Use portable propane fire pits

- Use gas or propane stoves and barbecues

- Use catalytic or infrared-style heaters
