AUSTIN (KXAN) — Texas Gov. Greg Abbott announced that the Texas Workforce Commission (TWC) has awarded two grants, totaling $405,954, to Austin Community College and Granger Independent School District.

The Jobs and Education for Texans (JET) grants will be used to purchase and install equipment for career and technical education (CTE) training programs that will train 195 students in welding and HVAC mechanics.

"The JET grant program is a powerful tool for both the local and state economy," said TWC Commissioner Representing Employers Joe Esparza.

In June 2024, Central Texas nonprofits received over $6.3 million in funding to provide students with skills training in CTE careers.
