Police have identified the two women killed in a crash with a suspected carjacker who was fleeing police in Minneapolis on Thursday morning.

The Minnesota State Patrol says Marisa Casebolt and Liberty Borg, both of whom are 25 and from Minneapolis, died in the t-bone crash as the suspect crossed the intersection at Olson Memorial Highway and Penn Avenue at around 8:40 a.m.

The women were westbound in a Ford Fusion when the suspect, a 45-year-old St. Paul man who had stolen the Volkswagen Passat at gunpoint about a half-hour earlier, crossed the intersection on northbound Penn, slamming into their vehicle.

Both Casebolt and Borg, who were wearing seat belts, died at the scene.
