PIPESTEM, WV (WVNS) - State leaders and community members came together to celebrate the reopening of the Pipestem Aerial Tram.
The state-of-the-art addition took the place of the original tram system, which was first introduced in 1970. Upgraded features were added to allow for a smoother ride and transport of equipment such as bikes and kayaks. Many in attendance for the ribbon-cutting said the event came as a full-circle moment. "I grew up here in West Virginia, born in Wood County. My grandfather used to take me fishing and we'd come out to this park sometimes as a child," said West Virginia Secretary of Commerce, Matt Herridge.
