A 51-year-old stabbing suspect pleaded not guilty today in Circuit Court to first-degree assault for the Aug. 9 stabbing a man in the backroom of a Sheridan Street bar.

Waianae resident Kenneth Bounlangsy, who is out on bail, appeared in court with his private attorney, Alen Kaneshiro, for arraignment before Judge Thomas Haia.

Bounlangsy was the subject of an Aug. 20 Honolulu CrimeStoppers bulletin that said he is considered dangerous and stabbed two people just before 9 a.m. Aug. 9 at a Sheridan Street bar, and was suspected of attempted murder.

He was charged Aug. 21 by felony information, a court document that charges him with a single count of assault in the first degree, alleging he caused serious bodily injury — “a penetrating chest wound” — to Alakai Ramos.
