CLEVELAND, Ohio — Following two separate outside investigations that found Cleveland Councilman Joe Jones engaged in serious misconduct, including bullying and threatening to kill a staff member, Cleveland City Council is weighing a formal public rebuke.

Jones faces a possible censure vote at council’s Sept. 15 meeting. A censure is a formal, public rebuke that doesn’t come with penalties. Though, Jones has already been stripped of his ability to participate in committee meetings. Jones would be the first council member censured since the 1970s.
