SAVANNAH, Ga. (WSAV) — Thursday afternoon was hotter and a little more humid, just as we were expecting. Afternoon highs reached the upper 80s to lower 90s with hotter heat index values.

A similar hot and humid pattern will be setting up as we head into Friday and the weekend. Rain chances and cooler weather do not return to the Coastal Empire and Lowcountry until next week.

A LOOK AHEAD

Friday afternoon will be starting out with a mainly sunny sky with mild morning temperatures in the upper 60s to lower 70s.

A mainly sunny sky through the day will help temperatures to quickly warm into the lower 90s. Some inland locations may reach the mid 90s.

Humidity levels will continue to increase with a southerly breeze which will lead to heat index values on Friday in the mid to upper 90s.
