FBI agents are investigating after an ATM exploded Thursday morning in Woburn, according to police.

Just after 9 a.m., officers responded to an Eastern Bank on Mishawaun Road for a report of someone tampering with a drive-through ATM, authorities said on Facebook . They found that the machine was damaged from what appeared to be a pipe bomb or “unknown destructive device.”

Bomb technicians from FBI Boston and the State Police Bomb Squad were called to the scene as police investigated the damage. Officers discovered that, early in the morning, a man placed an object on the ATM which detonated moments later, causing an explosion, police said.

The suspect quickly left the bank and is still at large, but no one was injured, according to police. There is currently no threat to public safet
