The story of bike lanes is really a simple one.

In Calgary, they were tried. Most failed. City council built more. More failed.

Calgary city council didn’t care whether they failed, after promising they would be a roaring success and put us right up there with Amsterdam in cycling heaven.

Bike lanes were the cool thing to do. Calgary would be so world-class if there were bike lanes.

Businesses would not be affected except in a good way. Parking would be no big deal.

The number of cyclists on the bike lanes would be something to behold. It hasn’t panned out.
