The vibrancy and visionaries of Nags Head’s Gallery Row Arts District

The concept of Gallery Row in Nags Head began to take form in the 1970’s and 1980’s as many locally owned art galleries operated in the area between US 158 and NC 12 primarily in the vicinity of Driftwood Street. 1 Over the ensuing decades, this area became a walkable destination, with a concentration of restaurants, hotels and motels, retail businesses and galleries.
