A guide to the outdoors in the offseason

With reasonable winter temperatures on the Outer Banks and coastal North Carolina ranging from the high 30’s to the mid-50’s, the season is the perfect time to take advantage of the area’s uncrowded beaches, trails, refuges, parks, and gardens.

Besides, health experts have long been telling us that a dose of nature and exercise boosts one’s mood. Why not banish any winter doldrums by communing with everything from a flock of feathered friends to a fish on the line.

Locally based national seashore and refuge folk have plenty of tips as to where you can go and what you can see.
