UPPER EAST SIDE, Manhattan (PIX11) -- With nowhere to go, James Mossettey was discharged from an Upper East Side psychiatric ward into the dark and desolate streets Sunday morning.
In just two hours, he was dead, struck by a yellow cab at East 72nd Street and York Avenue and dragged to the Queensboro Bridge. The driver never stopped.
“If my brother ever had one chance to turn his life around, that driver took it away from him,” said Jessica Hernandez, Mossettey’s sister.
Hernandez raised James from the time he was three years old. While he lived in the shadows, she said she’s speaking now to shine his light.
“He was so full of joy, spirit, and jokes,” she said.
