LEXINGTON, Ky. -- Lexington enjoyed its walkoff win on Wednesday over Atlantic League rival Charleston so much, the Legends decided to reprise it on Thursday.
Brady Whalen clubbed a two-run walkoff shot to lift Lexington over the Dirty Birds, 8-7, at Legends Field on Thursday.
Whalen’s shot was the second two-run come-from-behind walkoff homer hit by a Legend in a span of 24 hours and 20 minutes. Dylan Rock did the same thing on Wednesday.
It continued a wild series in the Interstate 64 rivalry, as Charleston won the opener on Tuesday after Jaylen Smith hit a two-run single with the Dirty Birds down to their final strike. Three contests remain in the six-game set.
James Nelson, Alsander Womack and Benjamin Blackwell had two hits apiece for Charleston (21-30 second half, 51-63 overall).
