BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) — Senators grilled the country's top health official Thursday on Capitol Hill, demanding answers to questions about public health leadership shakeups and debunked stances on vaccines. People who want the COVID-19 shot in Louisiana are finding it harder to get one at their local pharmacies in the meantime.

Dr. Byron Jasper founded Baton Rouge's Byja Clinic on Burbank Drive. He said since the clinic first opened, he's spent a lot of time explaining the medical aspect of COVID-19 vaccines to patients whose online reading habits prompted apprehension.

Jasper said new threats to public health from the very top of American institutions now makes the process even tougher.
