The desperate search for Dezi Freeman still has no end in sight nearly two weeks after he is accused of killing two detectives in regional Victoria.

The 56-year-old, who describes himself as a sovereign citizen, disappeared into bushland armed with rifles after the alleged attack 11 days ago.

Freeman remains at large despite more than 450 police officers being deployed to track him down.

Victoria Police have deployed thermal imaging as part of the operation, and are being assisted by specialist military units from the Australian army.

An expert has warned the conditions in Victoria’s northeast may have pushed Freeman underground.

Mineshaft expert Kyle Cranfield told the Herald Sun the area is littered with holes that could provide shelter but also pose a lethal risk.
