TEMPLE, Texas — After seven years of planning, the Temple Police Department is officially rolling out a new $1.4 million mobile command center -- a custom-built vehicle designed to handle everything from natural disasters to major crime scenes.

The mobile command center is outfitted with high-tech equipment including multiple workstations, briefing areas, a 40-foot mast camera and even a tethered drone capable of flying for hours. The truck is also self-sustaining, with its own power, internet and phone systems.

Detective Jesse Fugitt said every inch of the truck was carefully designed and considered.
