Eastern Atlantic Disturbance Likely to Become a Tropical Depression

The National Hurricane Center (NHC) is closely monitoring a broad area of low pressure in the eastern tropical Atlantic that is showing signs of organization and is highly likely to develop into a tropical depression by this weekend.

According to the latest Tropical Weather Discussion from the NWS National Hurricane Center, the system, designated AL91, formed along a tropical wave and is slowly becoming better organized. Recent satellite imagery indicates an increase in shower and thunderstorm activity along its eastern periphery.

Environmental conditions are described as favorable for further development, and forecasters believe a tropical depression is “likely to form by this weekend.”
