OMAHA, Neb. —

It was a celebration of Latino culture and community.

The Latino Economic Development Council hosted the Adelante Gala at Steelhouse Omaha on Thursday.

It was a scene of unity and making sure Latino representation is heard.

The event reflected the ongoing commitment to advance leadership and cultural pride within the community.

"Big things are coming for our community. They want us to be quiet. We're not going to be quiet. There's nothing we can't do as Latinos," said Francisco Sandoval.

The LEDC said they're excited about the Plaza de la Raza development in south Omaha.

It will include a children's play space and stage for performances.

The plaza is expected to open in 2027.
