ROMEO – Vinnie Vasilevski remembers vividly how the level of play was at Romeo when he came to the boys soccer program just under a decade ago.
“We’ve come a long, long ways since my first season,” recalled Vasilevski, who is in his ninth season at the helm.
Entering this season, Vasilevski’s Bulldogs were 86-54-21 in is previous eight seasons at Romeo. The first season in the fall of 2017, the Bulldogs finished just 5-11-5 and 2-7-3 in the Macomb Area Conference-White Division, good for fifth place.
“It’s changed a lot over the years,” admitted Vasilevski, who starred at nearby state powerhouse Utica Eisenhower nearly two decades ago. “There was a period where Romeo was just average. I remember when I was at Eisenhower, they had some good players but never really enough to do anything.
