WEST FARGO — The West Fargo bench players exploded into the arms of their Packers teammates on the court following the match-sealing point on Thursday night.

The Packers defeated West Fargo Sheyenne 3-2 (23-25, 27-25, 25-23, 23-25, 16-14) in a rivalry Eastern Dakota Conference volleyball clash inside a nearly full Packers gym.

“We had so much energy,” said Packers outside hitter Ellee McIntosh. “The younger players just killed the ball every second they could. … We all worked together in this win.”

West Fargo led 13-8 in the fifth set, but Sheyenne battled back with a 6-1 string. Mustangs outside hitter Kendal Ray had two service aces and a kill in the run.

The Packers took the fifth and final set 16-14 after a pair of Sheyenne errors.
