DES MOINES, Iowa —

Angela Connolly, a veteran Polk County supervisor, announced she will not run for reelection when her term ends in 2026 , citing a desire for new leadership and disappointment with recent political infighting on the board.

"Twenty-five years is a long time. I'm one of the longest-serving supervisors," Connolly said.

Connolly, who was first elected in 1998, has witnessed significant changes in the county during her tenure. She highlighted the construction of the Iowa Events Center and bringing the NCAA tournament to Des Moines as her proudest achievements.
