(KRON) -- The Oakland Police Department is asking the public for leads after a stolen vehicle was pulled out the water early Tuesday.

OPD said officers responded just after 3:15 a.m. in the 100 block of East 10th Street to investigate the report of a vehicle left running while submerged under water.

"When officers arrived, they learned an individual had entered the victim’s vehicle the day before in a neighboring city without permission and left the area in the vehicle," said Oakland PD in a statement to KRON4. "The vehicle was driven into Oakland and went underwater."

Oakland police said its dive team helped recover the submerged car. Police did not provide a detailed description of the vehicle.
