CANYON, Texas (KFDA) - The Colorado School of Mines Orediggers defeated the West Texas A&M Buffs by a score of 33-31 on Thursday.

Tied 31-31 late in the game, the Orediggers forced a Buffs safety and held onto the ball to run out the clock.

West Texas A&M quarterback, R.J. Martinez, finished the game 33-47 for 273 yards and one interception. On the ground, he carried the ball 23 times for 133 yards and rushed for three touchdowns.

The main recipient through the air was Bryant transfer Drew Zamar, who caught five passes for 96 yards.

With the loss, head coach Josh Lynn and the Buffs fall to 0-2 on the season.

They have a few days off before getting on the road to take on Western New Mexico on Saturday, Sept. 13.
