TIFFIN, Ohio — A northwest Ohio teacher has received one of the state’s highest honors in education.

Christopher Monsour, a science teacher at Tiffin Columbian High School, has been named the 2026 Ohio Teacher of the Year, the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce announced Thursday.

“I had the honor of being selected as the Ohio Teacher of the Year and so we surprised the students and staff,” Monsour said. “I kind of knew for a week or two. They thought they were going for a pep rally and then I got announced as a teacher of the year, so I'm very honored and grateful to the selection committee for selecting me.”
