The Frederick County Board of Education is considering options for the 2027-28 school year calendar, including starting after Labor Day and closing schools for Muslim holidays.

The school board members suggested starting the school year after Labor Day, closing school for Eid al-Fitr or Eid al-Adha, which are Muslim holidays, and eliminating as many days off as possible.
