NEW PHILADELPHIA, Ohio (WJW) — A local Amish woman indicted on murder charges following the deaths of her 4-year-old son and 45-year-old husband is due to appear in a county court next week.

A Tuscarawas County grand jury on Thursday indicted Ruth Miller, 40, of Millersburg, on seven counts, including aggravated murder, endangering children and domestic violence.

According to the Tuscarawas County sheriff, Miller visited Atwood Lake with her family on Saturday, Aug. 23.

Initial reports indicated the woman, who said she was following directives from God, had thrown her 4-year-old son into the lake. Her 45-year-old husband was also reported missing. Both were later recovered from the bottom of the lake.
