KEY LARGO, FLORIDA — The 8-year-old boy who suffered a shark bite on Labor Day is reportedly in ‘good spirits’ while recovering at Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami, according to a report by People.com.
The youngster, who was identified as Richard Burrows, was snorkeling with 10-year-old sister, Rose, and their father, David, when a black tip shark bit the boy on the knee.
He was airlifted to the Miami hospital. His sister was credited with helping her brother during the emergency. There was reportedly an enormous amount of blood and Richard’s sister helped control the loss of blood by “applying pressure to a tourniquet.“
