Red Deer's Bennett Love has been crowned a champion.

Love won the U15 Alberta Golf Championship over the weekend at the Lakeside Golf Club in Chestermere.

He posted a final round 70 for a 3-stroke victory and a two-round total of five-under-par to defend his U15 title from a year ago.

"It feels great being one of the best U15 golfers in Alberta, feels amazing," Love said.

"I think getting it done this week was a lot of strategy. This course isn't maybe the longest but there's a lot of hazards. Trying to plot your way around it and staying out of trouble is definitely a challenge."

The 15-year-old posted a four-under-par 67 in the opening round, which included five birdies. He also had five birdies in the final round, but had to battle with four bogies.
