(NEXSTAR) — Football season is officially underway, and there arguably isn't a state more in love with the sport than the state of Texas.

A new study from WalletHub ranked the best and worst cities for football fans across the entire country, and out of the 250 cities they examined, 20 of them were located in the Lone Star State.

To determine which cities were best for football fans, WalletHub examined various metrics, including the presence of professional and college football teams, as well as the success of those teams. The engagement of fans for their teams in each of these cities also played a role in determining the ranking.
