DOUGLAS COUNTY, Colo. (KKTV) - Two people are dead after an early morning plane crash in Douglas County.

According to the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, the call came in just after 6:20 a.m. on Friday as an explosion. When crews got on the scene, that’s when they confirmed it was a crash involving a single-engine aircraft.

The incident occurred at 8636 S. Peoria St., Centennial. That’s near the Centennial Airport, but off airport property.

The South Metro Fire Rescue said the crash caused a fire, which threatened a large generator and a building. Neither was damaged.

The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) has been notified and will investigate the cause of the crash. NTSB will also release all information on the aircraft.
