LANSING, Mich. (WILX) - A 31-year-old Detroit man, Davonta Jones, has been sentenced to 15 months to 20 years of incarceration after pleading guilty to one count of Conducting a Criminal Enterprise related to a widespread auto theft operation that occurred throughout 2024.

Jones was convicted for his role in a large-scale criminal organization responsible for stealing hundreds of vehicles across Southeast Michigan.

The Michigan Attorney General first announced the investigation into the auto theft ring in May 2024.

The organization targeted new vehicle storage lots at manufacturing facilities, car dealerships, parking lots, and even private residences.

The stolen vehicles were then sold at prices significantly below market value on the black market to buyers seeking unregistered vehi
