NEWBERG, Ore. (KPTV) - Two young suspects have been arrested in connection to a fire that destroyed a historic train trestle in Newberg back on June 28.

Newberg-Dundee Police haven’t shared the ages of the suspects, but say two children broke into a storage shed at Northwest Christian Church and stole a gas canister they used to start a fire at near the trestle.

On the night of June 28, officers along with Tualatin Fire & Rescue found the historic train trestle fully engulfed in flames.

The trestle was a total loss estimated to cost $260,000 to repair.

Both suspects cooperated with police and have been booked into the Yamhill County Juvenile Detention Center on several charges.
