Donald Trump has been put in the awkward position of not being able to boast about his accomplishments out of fear of a faction within his MAGA base.

Already reeling from MAGA anger over his administration’s handling of the Jeffrey Epstein files, now the president has to deal with the Make America Healthy Again (MAHA) offshoot that idolizes vaccine skeptic Robert F. Kennedy.

That, in turn, makes it hard for the president to rid himself of the troublesome Health and Human Services secretary who found himself barraged by furious lawmakers from both sides of the aisle during a Senate Finance Committee hearing on Thursday.

During those exchanges, Kennedy both praised Trump's Operation Warp Speed, which accelerated getting the covid vaccine to Americans at the height of the pandemic, and also claimed that the vaccine killed more Americans than covid did.

That led MSNBC’s Ali Vitali to note that even Donald Trump has been hesitant to brag about his Operation Warp Speed out of fear of infuriating Kennedy’s anti-vax MAHA fans.

As she explained on Friday morning, “I think that is important when we consider the role of RFK Jr. and why he was able to carve out such a plum role.”

“It's because the MAHA coalition is a sort of weird coalition within MAGA that does stand as the reason why Trump, even on his signature achievement of Operation Warp Speed, does tend to waffle, even Truth Social posts this week saying yes, I thought it was effective, but the pharmaceutical company should show why it was effective,” she continued.

“He's waffled on this before, and it's because RFK controls a pretty important sect of the MAGA base, politically speaking,” she suggested.
