Aryna Sabalenka progressed to her third US Open final after earning a comeback victory against home favorite Jessica Pegula , a rematch of the 2024 US Open final. The World No.1 was under pressure to win the clash having lost to three different Americans in the past three Grand Slam tournaments.

Sabalenka began well, breaking Pegula early in the match and silencing the partisan crowd after leading 4-2. But she lost her rhythm, which allowed Pegula to get back into the match, winning four consecutive games that had the crowd on their feet. Sabalenka headed off for a bathroom break after the first set, and when she returned, she showed class in her display.
