FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Valley cricket players now have a few new places to compete.

On Thursday, Fresno city leaders held a ribbon-cutting ceremony to introduce the city's very first pitch.

The field is located at the Regional Sports Complex in southwest Fresno.

It joins a second pitch located in Fresno County at the JSK Neighborhood Park.

Members of the Indian Community brought the idea of building cricket spaces to city leaders, since there were none in Fresno.

They say it's not only about competition and enjoying green space, but it's also important to their culture.

These are some of the only tournament-style league pitches located between San Francisco and Los Angeles.

The plan in the future is to host league games and tournaments.
