Jill (Hind) Gorsic, a West Elgin native, recently completed a gruelling cycle trek from her home in Belcarra, B.C., to her childhood home on McMurchy Line, north of West Lorne.

She arrived at her mother’s home on Aug. 14, having covered the final 170 kilometres in one burst to reach her goal of coming home — and in time for the Hoglund family reunion.

I first met Jill early in my career at West Elgin secondary school.
