OAKLAND, Calif. —
Friday morning commuters who rely heavily on the Bay Area's heavily used public transit network likely had their travel disrupted after a systemwide outage.
The Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) posted on the social media platform X at 5:30 a.m. that there is no BART service due to a computer equipment failure. BART later posted that the issue came after a network upgrade that prevented the start of service.
Affiliate KTVU-TV reports that this is the fourth major outage for BART since May, when an outage lasted for about five hours.
For those who don't have a vehicle or cannot foot the cost of an expensive rideshare, BART is vital for commuters.
