PORTLAND, Maine — Portland-based music artist Chrizi Jamer partnered with local nonprofits and business owners to host a back-to-school giveaway event on Saturday.

The event will be held from noon to 6 p.m. on Sept. 6 at the Food For All Services pantry located at 72 Parris St. in Portland. Parents will be able to bring their students to receive free hairstyles, haircuts, school supplies, and warm, cooked meals.

Jamer put the event together in just three short weeks after seeing a need for support in the community. Although school for students in Maine is in full swing, some parents may still be rounding up supplies for their children.

Most of the funding for this event comes straight out of Jamer and his team's pocket. He said he posted a GoFundMe when he started planning the event,
