A 23-year-old woman was charged with aggravated assault after a person was stabbed on Sutton Street, Sarnia police say.

Officers were called there shortly before 11 p.m. Wednesday after a person involved in a fight pulled a knife “and began swinging it, ultimately stabbing a third individual who became involved in the dispute,” police said in a release Thursday.

A male, who was stabbed in the lower abdomen, suffered life-threatening injuries and underwent emergency surgery at Bluewater Health, where his condition was stable, police said.

A suspect hid the knife – found later by police – and fled, but later arranged to turn themselves in, police said.

Rebecca Henry, 23, of Sarnia is charged with aggravated assault and was held in custody, police said.
