Two weeks after his unexpected death, former Pocatello/Mount Hope Fire Chief Joseph Mazza Sr. is being remembered by those who knew him for his various services to the community.
Mazza died Aug. 23, one day after responding to a medical call with the fire company he had served for more than 30 years.
He was 47.
"Joe was known and loved everywhere he went," the Pocatello/Mount Hope Fire Company said in a Facebook post announcing his death.
In addition to his work with the fire company, where he was still a commissioner, Mazza was a member of the Orange County HAZMAT Team.
"Our thoughts are with the Mazza family during this difficult time," Orange County's Department of Emergency Services said in their Facebook post.
