Two people are dead after single-engine plane crash near Denver.

Deborah Takahara with the Douglas County Sheriff's Office said the call came in as an explosion around 6:20 a.m. local time Friday about one mile south of Centennial Airport.

"We do know at this point there are two confirmed fatalities," she said a news conference.

Brian Willie, South Metro Fire Rescue, said they found a single engine plane on fire when they arrived and it was threatening a large bank of generators.

"We were able to get water on both of the generators and the aircraft and put that fire out," he said. "There was no damage to the generators or the building that was threatened, and there were no other. People involved and no other injuries involved in this incident."
