Raw sewage has been seen floating in the River Aire in Leeds city centre as people in the area report an "overwhelming smell".
The sewage was seen floating downriver on Thursday, September 4, at around 2.30pm in the afternoon. This came after heavy rain hit the area around Leeds Train Station .
One eyewitness reported seeing the sewage floating down the River Aire in Leeds city centre , having seen people fishing in the area just before.
They said: "The water was clear but then suddenly, all this cloudy water, deep cloudy water, started pushing down the river with debris that looked like faecal matter and toilet paper. There was a really strong, almost overwhelming smell, of sewage."
